Terri Walker's position as the UK’s premier soulstress has not come without hard work, grit and determination.
Following the critically acclaimed Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album Untitled in 2003, Terri Walker's unquestionable talent and charismatic live performances firmly established her as a truly gifted artist.
Untitled, which featured collaboration with Mos Def on the underground smash 'Guess You Didn't Love Me', was a runaway success.
The success of Untitled in 2003 was followed by L.O.V.E two years later and the independent release, 'I Am' in 2006.
With Walk With Me, Terri returns to her soulful roots for one of 2011’s most highly anticipated releases. The album, Terri’s first solo project in five years, was inspired by her overseas collaborations with seminal hip-hop producer, Ski Beatz. Reflecting on the experience, Terri says, "I was in New York, not really focusing on myself as a solo artist just working with Ski. It was all really organic.”
An impressive cast of collaborators and producers joined together on Walk With Me to create a soulful, hip hop-infused tour de force. The album features collaborations from Geechi Suede (Camp Lo), YahZarah (The Foreign Exchange and Erykah Badu), Jean Grae and up and coming MC, Da$h.
Ten of the album's tracks are produced by the legendary Ski Beatz who stunned the hip-hop world in 1996 with his work on Jay-Z’s critically acclaimed debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Ski has also produced for artists such as Mos Def, Lil Kim, Wiz Khalifa, Jay Electronica, Curren$y and Nas. Producer Apple Juice Kid - whose credits include working with Camp Lo, Lady Gaga, and Wale - also contributed to the album.
Despite the big name collaborators and producers, Walker brings 100% drive, passion and commitment to this album. Walker’s song writing skills on tracks such as “So Hard” and “Chill” combined with pitch perfect harmonies and rich soulful vocals encapsulate the unique and inimitable style of this incredibly gifted singer.
